2015 NIT Field Announced; Panthers to Host George Washington on Tuesday

Late on “Selection Sunday” the field for the 2015 National Invitational Tournament was announced.
The 32-team single-elimination field, features four quadrants. Each quadrant is comprised of eight teams seeded one through eight.
The number one seeds were set, and were the last four teams left out of this year’s NCAA Tournament. The four number one seeds in order are: Temple, Colorado State, and Richmond.
The tournament features 12 regular season conference champions (automatic invitation), 23 teams with at least 20 wins, and teams from 22 different conferences including the schools from the ACC, AAC, A10, Big 10, SEC, and Pac-12, and last years National Champion, UCONN.
Pittsburgh (19-14) is the four seed in the top left “quadrant” and will host George Washington (21-12) the five seed on Tuesday. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN, and will tip at 7 PM.
Pitt’s section includes number one overall seed Temple (23-10), #2 Texas A&M (20-11), third ranked Louisiana Tech (25-8), MAC regular season champion and sixth ranked Central Michigan, seventh ranked Montana, and eighth seeded Bucknell.
The winner of Tuesday’s game will either play at Temple or host Bucknell sometime next week.
