Proposed Legislative Maps Released

Pennsylvania’s Legislative Reapportionment Commission has released its preliminary plan for redrawing the lines of the Commonwealth’s 50 Senate and 253 House districts. The committee approved the plan 3 votes to two. Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R-Delaware), House Majority Leader Mike Turzai ( R-Bradford Woods), and committee Chairman Stephen McEwen voted in favor of the plan. Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa (D-Allegheny) and House Minority Leader Frank Dermody (D-Allegheny) opposed the plan.
The plan will be open to public comment for the next thirty days. A final plan will be voted on after that.
