Take Tuesday: Friday Edition – Cincinnati Killed Harambe and Now They Must Be Punished
There are plenty of storylines surrounding this Sunday’s matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals. It is the first meeting between these two AFC North division foes since their wild wild card game last January. It is Tyler Boyd’s first game at Heinz Field as a member of the visiting team. It is a game that could have major playoff implications for the AFC North. However, the storyline that is overshadowing all others in the days before this huge game is the murder of Harambe the gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo over three months ago.
This act should not go unpunished. The Pittsburgh Steelers should deliver justice for Harambe by defeating Cincinnati. While there are many things that Cincinnati has to answer for (Vontaze Burfict, Jerry Springer, Skyline Chili, etc.), it is very important that the Bengals lose a football game as payback for what they did to Harambe. The negligence of the zoo and the parents of the child led to Harambe’s death and so it is important that on Sunday the Steelers score more points than the Bengals.
It is going to be a tall task for the Steelers. Bengals receiver AJ Green is coming off of a game where he burned the Darrelle Revis led Jets secondary for 180 yards and a touchdown. The Bengals defense was much better than Washington last season so they might be able to provide some resistance to Antonio Brown. Andy Dalton was sacked seven times last week, but the Steelers defense isn’t as good as the Jets, and if the Steelers can’t get to Andy Dalton while dropping seven defenders back into zone coverage, Andy Dalton will pick them apart. While there might be many reasons on the field for the Bengals to win, there is one major reason in your heart for the Steelers to win.
Cincinnati must be held in check to protect gorillas everywhere. Here is the worst-case scenario: what if for the first time in 26 years the Cincinnati Bengals win a playoff game. What if Bengals fans then decide that they need to kill a gorilla every year in order to win a playoff game. Let’s not take that risk. It is crucial that the Steelers win this weekend and seize control of the AFC North to stop Cincinnati from doing any more evil. The Bengals do not deserve to win a playoff game. Teams have had their quarterback suspended for four games and lost first round draft picks for less. Steeler Nation: don’t let Cincinnati get away with this. Make Cincinnati pay for what they did to Harambe.
