The department’s newest musical endeavor, the Carpathian Music Ensemble, was founded in fall 2008 and is directed by Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology Adriana Helbig. The ensemble performs Gypsy, Klezmer, Armenian, Moldavian, Ukranian, and Macedonian music. Along with their performances for Music at Pitt, the ensemble performs for enthusiastic crowds at local concert venues around Pittsburgh.
