This past week, Primavera Sound announced their lineup for Barcelona in May. Out of all the festival lineups that have been announced to date, we all felt that Primavera had the best overall quality and range of musicians. Such acts include The Black Keys, Sleater-Kinney, The Strokes, Interpol, Belle and Sebastian, Run the Jewels, and more.
Pharrell and Al Gore Team Up for Global Live Earth Concerts
The organization Live Earth, which aims to raise awareness for the gravity of climate change, is attempting to gain one billion signatures to inspire our world leaders to enact change to protect the environment. The concerts will each be four to six hours in length, span all seven continents, and be broadcasted over 200 television channels worldwide. The concerts will occur over a 24 hour period on June 18th, 2015. Pharrell and Al Gore similarly teamed up for a Live Earth event in 2007 which featured musicians such as Kanye West, Metallica, and the Foo Fighters.
The Beastie Boys Suing Monster Energy Drinks . . . Again
Last year, the Beastie Boys sued Monster Energy for using their music in a promotional video without their permission. The lawsuit netted the band a total of $1.7 million. Now, the group is attempting to reclaim a total of $2.4 million to cover various costs and legal fees associated with the initial lawsuit.
