The Upbeat Recap – February 6th
Left Shark dominates Super Bowl Halftime Show feat. Missy Elliott feat. Katy Perry
In this past Sunday’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, Katy Perry put on a spectacle that included a giant animatronic lion, guest appearances by Missy Elliott and Lenny Kravitz, and everyone’s favorite background dancer, Left Shark. One of the two backup dancers wearing shark costumes (specifically the one on Katy’s left, as we view her) evidently forgot his routine and began to dance to the beat of his own drum, so to speak. He has since blown up into an internet phenomenon.
Jack White Blacklists the University of Oklahoma Because of Guacamole
After a school newspaper at the University of Oklahoma published Jack White’s rider for a recent show he performed, the artist’s booking agency has blacklisted the university indefinitely for further performances. Some of the requests made in the rider are as follows:
“This is a NO BANANA TOUR. (Seriously) We don’t want to see bananas anywhere in the building.”
There must be a pound of “freshly sliced, high-quality prosciutto and aged salami with a sharp knife.”
A batch of homemade guacamole
The rider itself concludes with a half-page long recipe for this guacamole, and it appears that the publishing of White’s recipe is what caused this vehement response on the artist’s end. Evidently, the man takes his dips very seriously.
